For three weekends in May, in the World Trade Center’s Oculus, artist Jonathan Horowitz will set up a public studio for passersby to help him with his current project by painting 1,612 black dots, writes Alanna Martinez in the NY Observer. The studio will be located in the east end of the Oculus main floor.
Horowitz’s continuing public installation, called 1612 DOTS, is the first major partnership the Oculus has done with an artist in its community programming series.
The public will paint eight-inch dots in solid black. Tools, tables and chairs are provided. Dots will be hung on temporary walls as soon as they have been completed.
1612 DOTs will begin on Friday, May 5, 2017 from 12:00pm-5:00pm, and run through the weekend. 1612 DOTS will be open again May 12-14 and May 19-21.
