Terri Talley, a Federal Employees Credit Union employee, was in the Murrah Federal building in Oklahoma City on April 19, 1995, the day it was destroyed by terrorists. Eighteen of her colleagues were killed; ten survived, reports Lacey Lett for KFOR Oklahoma.
Talley was trapped in the rubble with broken vertebrae, a broken ankle, and torn tendons. She was temporarily blind from the blast. Some rescuers thought there was no way of digging her out from the rubble and thought they should leave her.
Now-retired Oklahoma firefighter Rowdy Baxter said no. Off-duty that day, he got Talley out of the rubble.
Now he is suffering from a genetic illness and has needed surgery. Talley is at his side.
The pair has decided to walk the Oklahoma Memorial Marathon 5-K together. The event will be held on April 30, 2017.
