For Orlando homicide detective, a mass shooting turns personal

Orange County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Detective Danny Garcia Pagan has been identifying bodies, speaking to terrified relatives of the missing and interviewing traumatized survivors since Sunday’s attack on Pulse nightclub.

‘“Chaos is our normal,” said Garcia Pagan, 43. “We are the people behind the scenes trying to bring normalcy to the chaos for everyone else.”’reported Arelis R. Hernández in the Washington Post.

The emotional toll terror attacks take on law enforcement officers, nurses, doctors, paramedics and EMTs, crime scene investigators and dispatches is often overlooked.
