The new World Trade Center transportation hub is slanted at an angle from the other buildings of the new World Trade Center by design. The angle is so that the skylight can be a design feature meant to honor the victims of the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001.
‘”The skylight will open on September 11 at 10:28 (a.m.). That’s the exact time when the last tower fell,” said Steve Plate, Chief of Major Capital Projects for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. “There is a term called the wedge of light, it’s the exact angle of the sun on September 11,”‘ reports Larry Higgs of NJ Advance Media for NJ.com. Plate lost 84 colleagues in the attacks.
