Anna Bitong in the February 25, 2016 edition of the Thousand Oaks Acorn tells the story of Captain Craig Powell, a retired Navy SEAL who risked his life to save people in the Pentagon during the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Powell, 58, is now battling acute myeloid leukemia.
“I don’t know that I can prove it, (but) the possibility that September 11 led to my leukemia could probably be just as likely as it is unlikely,” he said.
Captain Powell is awaiting bone marrow transplant and needs to find a match before his cancer becomes resistant to chemotherapy.
