On December 2, 2015, the 67th Precinct unveiled a plaque honoring the memory of NYPD Police Officer Vito Mauro, who died on December 2, 2008 of World Trade Center-related illness. Officer Mauro was 48 and left his wife and daughter. He had an 18-year NYPD career.
