Paramount Pictures apologizes on Wednesday for the release of a marketing poster for its upcoming film “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” depicting its four ninja turtles jumping from an exploding building and emphasizing its September 11 release date.
The poster has made public on Australian Paramount Pictures Twitter account as well as in its official Facebook page. The posts were deleted soon after it received flood of criticisms from its followers.
Paramount Pictures Australia said in a statement that they regret using the artwork for the marketing materials promoting premiere of the film in Australia on September 11, which is the 13th anniversary of the al Qaeda attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
The film studio admitted that it was a mistake combining the image and the date and that they don’t intend to offend anybody.
Paramount vowed to stop the use of the poster.
The “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”, produced by “Transformers” director Michael Bay, is set for release on Aug. 8 in the U.S.
