Museum slated near Ground Zero

The developer who proposed to build a controversial Muslim community center near Ground Zero has changed his plans. Sharif El-Gamal now plans to build a small, three-story museum “dedicated to exploring the faith of Islam and its arts and culture,” according to The New York Times.

Mr. El-Gamal has retained French architect Jean Nouvel to design the building at 45-15 Park Place, about two blocks away from the World Trade Center site. Originally, the developer wanted to build a $100 million, 15-story community center and prayer space.
