Stones from the rubble of the Pentagon after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks is waiting in Utica, NY for a memorial to be built to house it, writes S. Alexander Gerould in the Utica Observer Dispatch on February 23, 2016.
Nearly 15 years after the attacks, no memorial design exists.
“We haven’t had anything set up or designed yet, as far as getting that up and actually building a memorial,” said Tom Carcone, president of the Utica firefighters’ union. “They’re stored away until we get this all straightened out.”
