The Northwest Ohio 9/11 Memorial, sponsored by the 180th Fighter Wing of the Ohio Air National Guard will open to the public on Tuesday, November 13, 2018.
The memorial is designed as a sundial; its outside is numbered like a clock, reflecting the four times planes were crashed by terrorists on September 11, 2001. The memorial contains artifacts from the three sites affected by the terrorist attacks, including steel from the World Trade Center, limestone from the Pentagon, and soil from the field in rural Pennsylvania where Flight 93 went down.
Visiting the memorial is free, but because it is on a military base, visitors must register for tours.
