Two NYPD officers – one of whom had just been married – were killed in a car accident Sunday night, report Stephanie Pagones, Gabrielle Fonrouge and Natalie Musumeci in the NY Daily News.
Michael Colangelo, 31, a 10-year NYPD veteran with the NYPD’s ESU K-9 unit who had just gotten married, and 16-year veteran Officer John M. Martinez, 39, of the 84 Precinct died in the Ulster County crash.
Officer Martinez served at the World Trade Center during the recovery operation after the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001. He leaves a widow and two young children.
