The George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum announces the hand-delivery of the Ground Zero bullhorn to the National September 11 Memorial and Museum in New York City. The bullhorn was used by President George W. Bush after the September 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center buildings.
President Bush stood atop the rubble and said, “I can hear you; the rest of the world hears you; and the people – and the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon.”
The Ground Zero bullhorn is only one of 43,000 artifacts in the library and museum, and has been on display since the official opening on May 1, 2013. To date, over 400,000 visitors have viewed the bullhorn and the September 11th exhibit.
The bullhorn will be displayed in the “After 9/11″ section of the September 11 Memorial and Museum. The bullhorn will return to the Bush Library and Museum in July 2014. Its space in the exhibit will remain empty until the bullhorn returns.
The National September 11 Memorial and Museum, located at the World Trade Center site, opens May 21, 2014.
