Construction on WTC’s St. Nicholas National Shrine halted after church defaults on payments

As of December 5, 2017, construction on the Saint Nicholas National Shrine at the World Trade Center has stopped because several payments to the construction firms carrying out the work have not been paid, reports Ameena Walker for Curbed.

According to Walker, the Pappas Post has reported that church leaders “misappropriated segregated or restricted funds” which included money to pay for the shrine’s construction.

An investigation is underway.
