9/11 memorial honoring Chicago and New York firefighters stuck in storage

Some firefighters from Chicago assisted the FDNY in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. In November, 2012, one of them, Herbie Johnson, was killed in a Chicago fire. Some FDNY firefighters came to a memorial golf outing in Johnson’s honor, bringing a piece of steel from the World Trade Center so the firefighters could build a memorial. That memorial has never been built, reports WGN TV’s Patrick Elwood.
