Meet 3 women who are comforting families of 9/11 illness sufferers

Diane Pryor-Holland, who lost her husband, NYPD Officer Richard Holland to World Trade Center-related kidney cancer, Dolores Weiner, who lost her brother, Thomas, to 9/11-related illness, and Bertha Merriweather, mother to NYPD Detective Tommy Merriweather, who also died of illness related to his service after the terrorist attacks, help other NYPD families dealing with site-related illness by making them quilts.

Their group is called Helping Our Post-9/11 Survivors or H.O.P.S. They plan to make a quilt for every NYPD family with a death from World Trade Center-related illness.

“Take it, wrap yourself in it, remember your loved one, remember us, that we’re all a family,” Weiner told New York 1’s Michael Scotto.
