9/11 study shows PTSD tied to earlier death

A new study published this week in JAMA Network Open has found that World Trade Center-related PTSD is linked to a lasting risk of early death from any cause.

The study examined more than 60,000 survivors, rescue personnel, and recovery workers with PTSD due to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack, reports Steven Reinberg for HealthDay News .

During the 13-year period studied more than 2,300 deaths occurred in the study group, and startling findings of how much more prone those with site-related PTSD are to die prematurely.
