Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Wake & funeral for retired NYPD Detective Roland Anthony “Tony” Gray – Florence, SC

Retired NYPD Detective Roland Anthony “Tony” Gray died of World Trade Center-related cancer on Tuesday, June 22, 2021.

He served in the United States Air Force for 21 years.

His career in law enforcement started with the New York City Police Department. He rose to the rank of Detective before his retirement, winning the NYPD Combat Cross, the second highest medal awarded by the NYPD, and Police Officer of the Year in 2014.

After his retirement from the NYPD, he moved to Florida and joined the Bay Harbor Islands Police Department, then the Bureau of Fire, Arson & Explosives Investigations in the Jacksonville Field Office.

His wake will be held in the J.O. & Annette Smith Memorial Chapel of the Smith Funeral Home on Thursday, July 1, 2021, from 10:30am until 1:30pm.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Florence National Cemetery.
