9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. K-12th Grade Essay Contest on topic “Light in the Darkness” – Reading, MA

The Reading PorchFest Committee is holding a writing contest for students in grades K-12 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Students can submit a poem or essay on the theme “Light in the Darkness.” Submission details and essay requirements can be found here.

A judging panel will determine a winning essay or poem from the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Winning students will each receive $100 and the opportunity to present their writing at the town’s September 11th ceremony.

Writing submissions are due by Sunday, August 1, 2021.
