9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Wake for FDNY Lieutenant Joseph Maiello, E-163

Active-duty FDNY Lt. Joseph Maiello died while on duty at Engine 163/Ladder 83 last week. He was 53.
Lt. Joseph Maiello was recently promoted to lieutenant after serving the FDNY for 20 years. His previous firehouse was Ladder 148.
Lt. Maiello joined the FDNY in August, 1999. He began his career at Ladder 148, then moved to E-325/L-163, the house with which he responded to the terrorist attacks of 9/11.
Joseph Maiello’s wake will be held at the Matthew Funeral Home in Meiers Corners on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm and again from 7:00pm until 9:00pm.
A funeral Mass will be said on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 11:00am at Holy Family R.C. Church in Westerleigh with burial to follow at Ocean View Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the FDNY Foundation is starting a scholarship fund in memory of Lt. Joseph Maiello. Donations to the fund can be made by going to the FDNY foundation page and selecting the Lt. Joseph W. Maiello Children’s Scholarship Fund.
