9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Ray Pfeifer Memorial Clambake

The second annual Ray Pfeifer memorial clambake will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019, from 7:00pm until 1:00am at East Meadow Fire Department Benevolent Hall in East Meadow, NY.
The cost to attend is $50.00 per person. This includes a pasta bar with raw clams and mussels, and your choice of a steak or lobster dinner with corn on the cob and baked potato. A dessert bar will follow. There will be a cash bar, raffles, 50/50s and prizes.

FDNY Firefighter Ray Pfeifer lived in East Meadow and volunteered for the fire department there. When he became ill with stage-4 World Trade Center-related kidney cancer, he spent months lobbying in a wheelchair to reauthorize the Zadroga fund to help those sickened from World Trade Center toxins.
Ray died of his cancer in 2017. In 2019, after another long battle with Congress (during which another firefighter, Rob Serra, used Ray’s wheelchair in tribute to his courage), the bill to fully fund the Zadroga act was renamed, adding Ray’s name and the name of NYPD Detective Luis Alvarez.
Owing much to Ray, H.R. 1327 the Never Forget the Heroes: James Zadroga, Ray Pfeifer, and Luis Alvarez Permanent Authorization of the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund Act was passed by the Senate on July 23, 2019 and signed into law on July 29, 2019.
