The Ray Pfeifer Foundation honors FDNY Firefighter Ray Pfeifer, who contracted kidney cancer from his work at the World Trade Center in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Despite his illness, Ray tirelessly campaigned for the passage of the Zadroga Act that helps others sick from the site. Ray often travelled to Washington while wheelchair-bound to try to get aid for other workers.
Ray died of his illness last year, but the foundation in his name continues to aid his brothers.
