Full details about the run will be given upon registration.

It costs $28.00 for an adult runner and $15.00 for children aged 2 to 12 to run in the Kids’ Fun Run. Funds raised support the work of the John Bellew Memorial Fund. Originally created as a scholarship fund for the children of members of the FDNY, the John Bellew Memorial Fund extended its purpose to also provide financial assistance to the families of members of both the FDNY and NYPD who have suffered non-line of duty deaths.

John Bellew was an FDNY firefighter with Engine 46/Ladder 27 who was killed in the line of duty on January 23, 2005, “Black Sunday” when he and five other firefighters were trapped by illegal partitions in a building and had to jump from the fourth floor. Four were gravely injured; while John Bellew and Lt. Craig Meyran did not survive. Black Sunday is the deadliest day for the FDNY since the terrorist attacks on 9/11, as FF Richard Scalfani was killed in a separate fire in Brooklyn that day.
