Funeral for retired FDNY Battalion Chief Brian E. O’Flaherty, B-9

Retired FDNY Battalion Chief Brian E. O’Flaherty of Battalion 9 died of World Trade Center-related illness on December 3, 2022.
BC O’Flaherty began his FDNY career at Ladder 105. He was a Lieutenant at Ladder 102, then moved to Manhattan, where he spent 12 years as the Captain of Rescue 1, and then served as a Battalion Chief in the 9th Battalion in midtown, before finishing his career as Chief of Safety. Chief O’Flaherty retired after 38 years of service following injuries sustained during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Karin O’Flaherty, and four adult children.
Chief O’Flaherty’s funeral Mass will be said at 10:30am on Friday, December 9, 2022 at the Cathedral of St. Agnes in Rockville Centre. Private cremation will immediately follow Mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in memory of Chief O’Flaherty are directed to any of FDNY Fire Family Transport Foundation, Long Beach Waterfront Warriors, or the NY Firefighters Burn Center Foundation.
