SI Running Association’s Marathon Week Legends Dinner and Vic Navarra Service Award

October 30, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

This year’s Vic Navarra Service Awards will be awarded at the Staten Island Running Association’s Marathon Week Legends Dinner on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at 7:00pm at Staten Island’s the Staaten.

Vic Navarra was a legend in the running community, serving as chief start organizer for the NYC Marathon since 1980. His widow Joanne now does the job in his stead. He performed the same job for the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Run for many years.

Vic Navarra, an FDNY firefighter, died of World Trade Center-related sinus cancer in 2007.

The Vic Navarra Service Award goes to people in the running community who serve above the call of duty. The inaugural award last year went to Joanne Navarra. This year’s winners are Jo-Anne Kopycinski and Michael McVey.

Advance registration for the dinner will take place at 7:30pm on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Doc Hennigan’s Tavern. Please be aware that this event can take only cash or checks. To register online for the dinner, please click here.
