9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Wake for NYPD Officer Manny Vargas (ret.)

NYPD Officer Manny Vargas, who last served with the 49 Precinct, died of World Trade Center-related brain cancer on November 1, 2018. He also worked in the 24 Precinct during his 24-year NYPD career.
A large man of great strength, he was known as “Monsta.”
His viewing will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 4:00pm until 9:00pm at Ortiz Funeral Home in Manhattan.
Officer Vargas’ funeral service will take place at 10:30am on Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Church of the Incarnation in Manhattan.
