Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. WTC survivor Sunel Sultan Merchant to speak – Vestavia Hills, AL

The Vestavia Hills Chamber of Commerce will host Sunel Sultan Merchant, a 9/11 survivor, as the featured speaker during their 11:30am luncheon on Tuesday, September 9, 2014. Luncheon will be served from 11:30am to 1:00pm.
Merchant, who is originally from India, worked as a computer consultant for a Japanese bank on the 49th floor of the World Trade Center. He will discuss his escape from the tower during the lunch.
The bank merged with another in 2005 and Merchant was laid off. He moved to Alabama and fulfilled his dream of opening a restaurant, Philly Connection, in Auburn.
Reservations for the luncheon are due by 4:00pm on Friday, September 5, 2014 and cost $18.00. Late reservations will cost $25.00.
