9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Wake for Retired NYPD Detective Michael Lawrence Ledek – Apex, NC

Retired NYPD Detective Michael Lawrence Ledek, 54, died of World Trade Center-related neuroendocrine cancer on February 9, 2018. Mike retired to North Carolina, where services in his honor will be held.

Detective Ledek retired from the New York City Police Department after 20 years of service. He worked in the 106th Precinct, and Queens Warrants and retired out of the 66 Squad. He spent a great deal of time at the recovery effort after the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.

The family will receive friends from 2:00pm until 4:00pm and from 6:00pm until 8:00pm on Monday, February 12, 2018 at Apex Funeral Home in Apex, North Carolina.

His funeral Mass will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Saint Bernadette Catholic Church in Fuquay Varina, North Carolina. Burial will follow the service at Wake Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation or the Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation.
