9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Wake for retired FDNY Lt. James Winters, E-278

Retired FDNY Lt. James Winters who retired out of Engine 278 after a 42-year career, died on April 11, 2021 of World Trade Center-related illness.

His son, active-duty FDNY Lt. James Winters, E-165, followed in his father’s footsteps.

His viewing will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2021, from 2:00pm until 4:00pm and again from 7:00pm until 9:00pm at the Bedell Pizzo Funeral Home in Staten Island.

Lt. Winters’ funeral Mass will be said at Our Lady Star of the Sea in Staten Island at 12:15pm on Friday, April 16, 2021, with burial following immediately at Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in honor of Lt. James Winters to the Ray Pfeifer Foundation. Checks can be mailed to the address below or donations can be made online here.
