9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Wake for retired FDNY Captain Michael J. Lyons, L-30

Retired FDNY Captain Michael J. Lyons, L-30, died on March 29, 2022 from World Trade Center-related illness. He was 53.

Captain Lyons began his career in Engine 228, then went to Engine 59, Ladder 153, and Ladder 148. He retired from Ladder 30 on January 12, 2019. Captain Lyons was cited for many acts of heroism throughout his career including a miraculous rescue at the World Trade Center site days after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. His wake will be held from 2:00pm until 4:00pm and again from 7:00pm to 9:00pm on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at the M.A. Connell Funeral Home in Huntington Station, NY.

Captain Lyons’ Mass of Christian burial will take place on Monday, April 4, 2022 at 11:00am at Saint Elizabeth of Hungary Church in Melville, NY. Private cremation and interment will follow the funeral.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in memory of Captain Lyons be donated to the Ray Pfeifer Foundation.
