9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Wake for retired FDNY Captain John J. Galvin, Bureau of Operations

Retired FDNY Captain John J. Galvin of the Bureau of Operations died of World Trade Center-related illness on April 29, 2021.

Captain Galvin served the FDNY for 32 years. His son, Captain Rob Galvin, followed in his father’s footsteps, serving in Division 8’s Bureau of Operations and his brother, Thomas Galvin, is a retired FDNY Chief of Training.

Captain Galvin’s wake will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm and from 7:00pm until 9:00pm at Staten Island’s Casey McCallum Rice South Shore Funeral Home.

His Mass of Christian Burial will be said at the Church of St. Clare in Staten Island at 11:15am on Wednesday, May 5, 2021.

Interment will follow immediately at Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the FDNY Fire Family Transport Foundation in memory of Captain John J. Galvin.
