9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Wake for FDNY Firefighter and 9/11 Ferry Captain Thomas Phelan

Firefighter Thomas Phelan of Marine 9 (formerly Engine 55) has died of World Trade Center-related cancer at the age of 45.
He joined the FDNY in 2003. During the terrorist attacks of 2001 he was working as a Statue of Liberty ferry captain and ferried hundreds of people to safety, then delivered supplies to the site.
His wake will be held on Monday, March 19, 2018 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and from 7:00pm to 9:00pm at the Daniel J. Schaefer Funeral Home in Brooklyn.
FF Phelan’s funeral will take place at 11:00am on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Brooklyn’s St. Michael’s Church.
