9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Wake for FDNY Battalion Chief John J. Nykiel

Active-duty FDNY Battalion Chief John J. Nykiel, 59, has unexpectedly died. He was a career officer with the FDNY, serving the department for 35 years. Chief Nykiel was most recently assigned to the Center for Terrorism and Disaster Preparedness.
His wake will be held from 2:00pm until 4:00pm and from 7:00pm until 9:00pm on Thursday, September 19, 2019, at the New Hyde Park Funeral Home.
His funeral will be held at 11:00am on Friday, September 20, 2019 at Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church in New Hyde Park, NY.
Burial will follow at St. Charles’ Cemetery in Farmingdale.
