9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Wake for Edward Gabriel, OEM & retired FDNY EMS

Edward John Gabriel died on January 5, 2020.

He had a 26-year career as paramedic for New York City Fire Department’s Emergency Medical Service, and retired as an Assistant Chief/Division Commander. He then became Deputy Commissioner for Planning and Preparedness for New York City’s Office of Emergency Management, the position he held during the 9/11 terrorist attacks. He also was a founding member of the Bay Ridge Ambulance Volunteer Organization.

His wake will take place at McLaughlin and Sons Funeral Home in Brooklyn on Thursday, January 9, 2020, from 2:00pm until 5:00pm and from 7:00pm until 9:00pm.

His funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 10, 2020 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Cathedral in Brooklyn.

Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Ed’s family requests donations to be made to the Bay Ridge Ambulance Volunteer Organization or the 9/11 VCF Fund in Ed’s name.
