September 11th Candlelight Vigil & Dedication of Memorial to those who have Died of 9/11-Related Illness – Carmel, NY
September 11, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Putnam County’s annual September 11th Candlelight Vigil will be held at 8:00pm on Monday, September 11, 2017 at the Putnam Heroes Memorial in Carmel.
The eight Putnam County residents who were killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 will be recognized in the ceremony as always. This year, six residents who have died of illnesses from their work in the rescue and recovery efforts will also be acknowledged at the ceremony.
A new memorial will be dedicated to the Putnam County residents who have died of World Trade Center-related illnesses. Sadly, that number will undoubtedly increase.
Preceding the candlelight vigil there will be a Mass of Remembrance at Saint James the Apostle Church in Carmel at 7:00pm.
