New York City Memorial Stair Climb

May 4, 2019 @ 8:00 am - 1:00 pm

The fifth annual New York City Memorial Stair Climb will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at 3 World Trade Center.

The annual New York City Memorial Stair Climb hosts more than 400 police officers, firefighters and EMS personnel as they climb the 80 floors of 3 World Trade Center in memory of the 343 FDNY, 37 PAPD, and 23 NYPD members killed in the terrorist attacks of 9/11 and the hundreds of rescue and recovery workers who continue to die from World Trade Center-related illnesses.

While all participants climb in full gear, the most important item they carry to the top is an honor tag with the name of someone who was killed on September 11, 2001 or who died after due to a 9/11-related illness.

In addition to honoring those who died because of the terrorist attacks, each year the climb organizers choose a 9/11-related beneficiary and raise funds for that organization.  Climbers are not required to fundraise, but it is strongly encouraged. Since 2015 the climb has raised over $250,000 for a variety of organizations benefitting firefighters, police officers, EMTs, and military personnel affected by the terrorist attacks of 2001. This year’s beneficiary is A Soldier’s Journey Home, which is currently building a house for wounded veteran Lance Cpl. Alex Edwards and his family.
