Graveside Service for Colonel Paul P. Trahan, Pentagon rescuer – Eastham, MA

May 14, 2022 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Colonel Paul P. Trahan died of September 11th-related prostate cancer in New York City on April 21, 2022 at the age of 73.

There will be a memorial service at 11:00am on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Evergreen Cemetery in his hometown of Eastham, Massachusetts. The graveside service will be followed by a celebration of Paul’s life.

After 30 years of military service, Colonel Trahan’s retirement day was September 11, 2001. He reported to duty at the Pentagon for his last morning on the job, but at 9:37am American Airlines Flight 77 was slammed into the building by terrorists, killing 125 Pentagon workers, the 59 innocent people aboard the plane, and the five hijackers.

Colonel Trahan went to work helping the injured, searching for survivors, and recovering the dead.

He retired from the Army as the Pentagon’s chief of the Intelligence Oversight Division in October 2001.  Colonel Trahan received the Presidential Legion of Merit for his service on September 11, 2001 and his 30 years in the military, including time as a White House aide.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Colonel Trahan’s name may be made to Cape Abilities or to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
