9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Funeral for Retired FDNY Captain Dennis M. Gilhooly

Retired FDNY Captain Dennis M. Gilhooly died of World Trade Center-related cancer on November 30, 2019 at the age of 68.
Dennis served as a New York State Trooper before joining the FDNY in 1981. Dennis began his career at E-75. After suffering serious burns, he was promoted to Fire Marshal. In 1991 he was promoted to Lieutenant and transferred to E-67. In the aftermath of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, Dennis was promoted to Captain and worked in the long recovery effort at the World Trade Center. Dennis then served as Police-Fire Liaison at Police Headquarters before retiring from the FDNY in 2004.
He also served in the New York Air National Guard for 22 years, retiring as a Master Sergeant.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Church in Millbrook, NY.
Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Stanfordville, NY.
