Dedication of the Caitlin Nelson Park

May 11, 2019 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

A children’s playground honoring Caitlin Nelson, the daughter of Port Authority Police Officer James A. Nelson, who was killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, will open on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 11:00am.

Caitlin Nelson died in a choking accident in 2017 at the age of 20.

Where Angels Play Foundation, a group begun after the Sandy Hook shootings, built the playground with help from the Nelson family on the site of the former Funtime Junction Park. The old playground there was dismantled, refurbished and donated to a Puerto Rican park damaged by Hurricane Maria.
