9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Captain Gerald F. DeConto, USN, Memorial Scholarship 5-K — Sandwich, MA

The annual Captain Gerald F. DeConto, USN, Memorial Scholarship 5-K will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2018 in Sandwich, MA.
The day will start with a brief memorial tribute at 9:00am on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Stop & Shop Plaza in Sandwich, MA.
The course is a scenic 3.1-mile route around the Sandwich Marina and beach area finishing back at the Stop & Shop Plaza.
Both runners and walkers are welcome to participate. Runners will leave the starting line first with official timing by Spitler Race Systems of Pawtucket RI. Results will be posted on coolrunning.com.
The fee to participate is $20.00 for adults and $15.00 for those under 18. To register, please click here. Funds raised benefit the Captain Gerald F. DeConto Scholarship Fund.
Cash awards will be given to overall male and female winners.
Race numbers and t-shirts can be picked up at the Stop & Shop Plaza, at the Registration Event on Saturday September 22, 2018 from 10:00am to 5:00pm or just before the run starting at 7:30am.

Captain Gerald F. DeConto was in charge of the Pentagon’s Navy Command Center on the morning of September 11, 2001. He was working with the Secretary of the Navy to plan the U.S. Naval response to the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. He was 44.
The Captain Gerald F. DeConto Scholarship Fund was started by Captain DeConto’s family after his death. The Fund awards an annual scholarship to a deserving Sandwich High School senior.
