September 9, 2017 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm

On Saturday, September 9, 2017, organizers of the Alicia Titus Peace Fund will host the annual Alicia Titus Peace Run 5-K and 1-Mile Walk, beginning at 9:00am outside the student center of Urbana University. The run and walk course will also end at the student center.

Race day registration costs $35.00 for the run or $20.00 for the walk. Those under 5 participate for free. Runners and walkers can register in advance here or here. All proceeds benefit the Alicia Titus Memorial Peace Fund and Scholarship Fund.

The day will also feature live music, post-race refreshments, awards, door prizes, raffle, face painting and other children’s activities.

Alicia Titus was killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. She was a flight attendant on United Airlines Flight 175, the plane that crashed into the South Tower of the World Trade Center.

The Alicia Titus Memorial Peace Fund was established at Urbana University in August 2002, by the Titus family and church friends, all of whom have close affiliations with the University. The purpose of the fund is to carry out the legacy and spirit of Alicia’s life by sponsoring programs for the University and community that promote and support a culture of peace.
