9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Wake & Funeral Service for retired FDNY FF Thomas M. Cooney

Thomas M. Cooney, 87, died of pancreatic cancer on Thursday, March 11, 2021.
Thomas was a US Army veteran and served the New York Fire Department in Harlem for 20 years. After his retirement from the FDNY, he became a Corrections Officer for the Annandale Corrections Department.
Though he was retired, Thomas returned to New York and joined the recovery operations after the September 11th terrorist attacks. He then visited schools to honor those killed in the attacks.
His wake will be held on Saturday, March 20, 2021 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm with services at 4:00pm at the Ferguson-Vernon Funeral Home in Vernon, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to the FDNY Foundation 9 Metrotech Center, room #5E-6, Brooklyn, NY 11201.
