Memorial Mass for FDNY Lt. John “Johnny Nice Guy” Martinson
January 3, 2021 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm
The annual Memorial Mass for John “Johnny Nice Guy” Martinson will be held at 4:30pm on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at Staten Island’s St. Clare’s Church.
FDNY Lieutenant John Martinson, universally known as “Johnny Nice Guy”, was killed in the line of duty on January 4, 2008 in a fire in a Brooklyn highrise. He was 40 years old and a 14-year veteran of the FDNY. He left his wife and toddler son.
The organizers ask, in light of the current COVID situation, that everyone should consider their personal circumstances before deciding whether to attend. Those who decide to attend the Mass will need to wear a mask at all times and maintain social distancing by following the markers on the pews and the floor of the church. While everyone is eager to gather in John’s honor, the organizers recognize, and are respectful of, the many factors that influence your decision to attend or not. They wish you well!
Due to the pandemic, there will be no reception after the Mass.
