9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Wake for Retired FDNY FF Raymond R. “Gonzo” Phillips

Retired FDNY Firefighter Raymond R. “Gonzo” Phillips died of World Trade Center-related illness on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the age of 64.

Ray was a member of FDNY Rescue 3 in the Bronx, and was very active in FDNY organizations, including playing on the Bravest football team. He was the Official Santa Claus for the FDNY Widows & Children, and Uniformed Firefighters Association’s Man of the Year in 2017. He was also chief of the South Blooming Grove Fire Department.

Ray survived the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 and worked the recovery effort.

His wake will be held from 4:00pm until 8:00pm on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush Funeral Home in Monroe, NY with firematic services at 7:00pm.

Ray’s funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30am on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at St. Mary’s Church in Washingtonville.

Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemeter in Washingtonville.
