9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Exhibit – Skywalkers: The Legacy of the Mohawk Ironworker at the World Trade Center

Skywalkers: The Legacy of the Mohawk Ironworker at the World Trade Center is a new exhibit by artist Melissa Cacciola at the Staten Island Museum History Center at Snug Harbor.
Skywalkers is a collection of tintype portraits and interviews of World Trade Center ironworkers from the Kahnawake reservation in Canada. All 30 of the ironworkers are Mohawk.
A tintype is photographic positive on a lacquered metal plate. The technique was developed shortly before the Civil War.
The exhibit can be seen from Saturday, November 21, 2015 to Monday, February 22, 2016. See the separate listing about the exhibit’s opening reception.
Mohawk ironworkers have a history with lower Manhattan. Many of the featured men are the third or fourth generation of their families to work on building sites in the area.
The free exhibit can be seen Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm. To reach the center from Manhattan, take the S40 bus 1.7 miles to Snug Harbor from the Staten Island Ferry.
