NYPD Memorial 5-K Run/Walk
May 17, 2015 @ 10:10 am - 1:00 pm
The NYPD Running Club will host the fourteenth annual NYPD Memorial 5-K Run/Walk on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at 10:13am at the corner of Liberty and West Streets in New York City.
This race is run in honor of all NYPD officers who have died in the line of duty. More than 850 NYPD heroes’ names have been etched into the New York City Police Memorial Wall in Battery Park City.
After a short prayer at the Memorial Wall, there is a 5-K Run/Walk (3.1 miles), followed by a great barbeque, Kids’ Fun Run and celebration. Bear in mind that all participants must register by 9:45am.
Each runner may choose which NYPD hero they are running for. When filling out the online application, select an officer to honor, then wear his or her name on your running bib.
You can register online. Running costs $25.00 for adults registered before May 7, 2015; $30.00 after; or $15.00 for those aged 16 and under registered before May 7, 2015; $20.00 after. To attend the barbeque without running costs $10.00. Funds raised benefit the NYPD Running Club Memorial Scholarship program, which has awarded more than $87,000 in scholarships.
