9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. Matt’s Race Honoring FDNY Lt. Gordon “Matt” Ambelas

Matt’s Race will be held at 10:00am on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Clove Lakes Park in Staten Island. A post-race party will be held at the Marine Corps League.

Lt. Gordon “Matt” Ambelas, 40, had a 14-year FDNY career when he was killed in a high-rise fire on July 5, 2014. He worked with Engine 161/Ladder 81 and Engine 211/Laddeer 119. He worked during Hurricane Sandy and during the World Trade Center recovery effort. He left a wife and two young daughters.

The run in his honor will begin at 10:00am in front of the Old Stone House on Clove Road.

The pre-entry fee to run is $20.00 for adults; $15.00 for children 14 and under. On race day, the fee to run is $25.00 for adults and $20.00 for children. Pre-race pick-up will be held at the Pepper Jack Grill from 7:00pm to 9:00pm on Thursday, April 16, 2015.

The top FDNY finisher in Matt’s Race, the Captain Martin J. Egan Run and the Celic Run will be awarded the FF James Halverson Award.
