FF John Chipura Blood Drive

March 1, 2014 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

The 11th annual blood drive in honor of FDNY Firefighter John Chipura will be held from 9:00am to 3:00pm on Saturday, March 1, 2014 in the gymnasium of Our Lady Help of Christians Roman Catholic Church on Staten Island.

Chipura was a veteran Marine, a terrorist bombing survivor (1983 in Beirut) and an ex-NYPD officer who had been a firefighter for 2 years when he responded to the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center. He was 39.

Donors should be 16 to 74 years old, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and have good health. A photo ID is required in order to donate blood. Please contact the New York Blood Center at 800-933-2566 with any questions.

The supply of blood for New York City is low, largely because recent weather has cancelled many blood drives and kept many potential donors at home. Blood is urgently needed.
