Wreath removal at Arlington National Cemetery

January 25, 2014 @ 8:30 am - 1:00 pm

Remembrance Wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery will be removed on Saturday, January 25, 2014. There is no rain or snow date.

Please remember that it is just as important to remove the wreaths as it is to place them.

The Arlington National Cemetery Welcome Center Parking Lot will open at 7:00am and there will be free parking until 1:00pm. Please use Metro if possible. Pedestrian gates will open at 8:00am. Please plan on staying at least until 12:00 noon if possible.

Wreath clean-up is a family-oriented event, and all ages are welcome to participate. No registration is required. A brief Volunteer meeting will be held at 8:30am at the McClellan Arch Gate (just off Eisenhower Drive between Sections 33 and 12, on McClellan Drive). Wreath clean-up will start at approximately 8:45.

Please pick up ONLY Wreaths across America wreaths placed in December. Leave any other wreaths or decorations in place.

Dumpsters will be placed throughout the cemetery for wreath disposal. Only a very limited number of dumpsters are available – please pack wreaths as tightly as possible in the dumpsters. Some dumpsters will be emptied and brought back to locations to be refilled.

Past volunteers suggest that volunteers bring a stick,  rope, rake, etc.  in order to carry multiple wreaths at a time. Please dress for the weather and wear gloves and water-proof footwear.

Volunteers can find more details here.
