Win a custom-made NYPD fishing rod honoring 9/11 hero John G. Chipura

September 2, 2015 @ 8:00 am - September 10, 2015 @ 5:00 pm

This year’s custom John G. Chipura fishing rod is made in an NYPD-themed color scheme in navy blue with yellow trim. It is emblazoned with the NYPD flag. A great saltwater fishing rod well suited to bottom fishing such as fluke, blackfish and porgies.

The rod is made according to the latest spiral wrap innovations (sometimes called an acid rod). Custom made by Bobby Volsario. The rod is a 7′ 3″ long; medium-power; medium fast action rod with guides laid out in a spiral wrap design which reduces torque, allowing you to fight larger fish with lighter tackle and less fatigue.

Included in the prize is a Penn 209 Levelwind reel. Line weight 15 to 30 lbs. Sinker weight 3 to 8 oz. Lure weight 3/4 to 2 oz.

John G. Chipura was a US Marine, an NYPD detective and an FDNY firefighter. He survived the 1983 terrorist attack on the Marine base in Beirut, but was killed in the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001.
