9/11 Tribute Center programs are offered throughout the year. Lectures, educational workshops and support programs are available to unite family members who lost loved ones, survivors, Lower Manhattan residents, rescue and recovery workers and volunteers who assisted in the aftermath of 9/11. WCSU Conference: ‘Compassion and Creativity in the Community’

On Friday, April 12, 2013 and Saturday, April 13, 2013, Western Connecticut State University will host a two-day symposium entitled, Compassion and Creativity in the Community, with a focus on how communities can develop an understanding of the need for compassion and kindness in today’s world. The seminar will take place at the Portuguese Cultural Center in Danbury.

Events will be held from 9:00am to 5:00pm on both days. Registration will begin at 8:00am on both days. Preregistration is also available online here.

United States Senator Richard Blumenthal will be the keynote speaker on Friday and Dr. Bernie Siegel is the keynote speaker for Saturday. The topic of recovering from tragedy will be addressed in the wake of the school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

WCSU held a compassion seminar before and has been recognized as a school of compassion by the Compassion Action Network.
